ABOUT
HIGH WATER PRODUCTIONS WAS FOUNDED BY RICHARD CHARNEY, A MEMBER OF THE PRODUCERS GUILD OF AMERICA AND AWARD-WINNING DOCUMENTARY PRODUCER

Richard Charney is a seasoned producer and creative lead with over a decade of experience delivering premium nonfiction and scripted content for major streamers and networks. His work spans independent feature documentaries, limited series, trailers, and promotional campaigns—often blending emotional storytelling with a cinematic eye and cultural relevance.
He most recently served as Archival Producer on the hit Netflix limited docuseries Trainwreck: Storm Area 51 (2025), a wild deep dive into the viral raid that captivated the internet and became a cultural moment. Prior to that, Richard produced the feature-length documentary My Last Nerve (2024), distributed by Freestyle Digital Media and currently streaming on Apple TV+ and Prime Video. The film explores the emotional and physical toll of caregiving, earning praise for its raw honesty and intimate perspective.
Richard also served as Executive Producer on The Sign (2017), a feature documentary that examines the intersection of faith, prophecy, and mass media. The film was distributed internationally via Rights Booster (UK) and released across multiple platforms including Amazon, Plex, Roku, and Tubi.
Earlier in his career, Richard held a long-standing creative role at Audience Network, where he directed and produced behind-the-scenes campaigns, trailers, and EPKs for critically acclaimed scripted series such as Mr. Mercedes, Condor, Loudermilk, and You, Me, Her. These projects placed him directly on set, collaborating with executive producers, talent, and network stakeholders to craft companion content that deepened fan engagement and expanded each show's narrative universe.
Throughout his work, Richard has consistently brought journalistic instincts, sharp creative instincts, and logistical precision to the projects he leads. He is the founder of Highwater Productions, a boutique production company specializing in elevated documentary, cultural storytelling, and cross-platform visual content.
